The three days involved students in an intense and varied programme of activities. Sessions included taster courses in Latin and German, an introduction to the Greek alphabet, and practical science sessions in our laboratories, studying topics in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. In the afternoon drama workshops, students worked towards their own mini-drama, developing characters, thinking about how movement expresses character, and generating dramatic situations based on their characters' personalities. Classroom sessions were interspersed with informal quizzes and library activities.
The course offered four MCS sixth formers the opportunity to develop their own teaching and leadership skills in subject areas of particular interest to them. The sixth formers worked with staff in developing and leading their sessions, which they did with enthusiasm and creativity. Four second form boys acted as guides and helpers for the primary school children, ensuring they felt welcome and at home around the school site.
The course ended with a presentation of certificates, to which parents were invited. This involved a display of student work and performances by the students.
