Eco Award for the New Building
Oxford City Council has presented the 2010 Sustainable Building Award to MCS for the New Building in recognition of its eco-friendly design.
The award is named in honour of David Steel, a former council officer and a significant contributor to the area's Climate Change Action Team. The Sustainable Building Award was collected by representatives from the school in a special presentation at the Town Hall. Brasenose College was also awarded for its student residential building in Hollybush Row.
The school's Assistant Bursar Alistair Weir said: "from the very outset of this exciting development, we were determined to make it as 'green' as possible.
"Our professional team researched and investigated every environmental aspect of the project. It's been a learning experience for both pupils and staff alike."
The Lord Mayor of the city, Councillor John Goddard said: "I am pleased that we have found two worthy winners this year. They have both worked extremely hard to make their buildings environmentally friendly."
