A Level Results 2010
Congratulations to all our Upper Sixth on achieving another year of outstanding A level results.
- 99.4% A*-B grades
- 85.8% A* and A grades
- 38% A* grades
- 2 pupils – 5 A* grades
- 7 pupils – 4 A* grades
- 7 pupils – 3 A* grades
- 73% awarded A* in English
The number of A*-B grades at 99.4% is just 0.2% off our record results in 2008, the highest results yet achieved by a UK school.
Two pupils, Clark Glasgow and Richard Perez-Storey, each attained 5 A* Grades. Clark managed to achieve these results and national showjumping titles at the same time.
Ian Baker, Kevin Pan, Stephen Piddock, Ian Shepherd, Tom Stevens, Sam Wells and Tom Whittaker all gained 4 A*s each.
Peter Allen, George Bangham, Ross Harrison, Christian Jones, Max Roberts, Caleb Thompson and Will White all gained 3 A*s each.
32 boys – all with Oxbridge offers – have had their places confirmed.
Dr Tim Hands, the Master, said ‘This is indeed a significant achievement. MCS is now year on year one of the most consistently high-performing schools in the country. More than a third of the yeargroup have made their Oxbridge offers, a twenty-year record, and around 90% of the boys have made it in to their first choice of university. The A* reflects this phenomenal success. I am delighted for the boys, their teachers and their families. Such results are the culmination of excellent teaching, hard work and sensitive support over many months.’
Steffan Griffiths, the Usher, said ‘I am particularly pleased because these boys have contributed so much to wider school life: those with three or more A* grades include an international showjumper, a film-maker, the 1st XV captain, the School Stage Manager and members of the First Orchestra. In my opinion these pupils’ academic performances have been helped rather than hindered by their extra-curricular activities.’
