There were even more celebrations for OW's this week - this time in the art world.
The Saatchi Gallery, working alongside the Sunday Telegraph, invited pupils to submit pieces for the "International Art Prize for School Children". More than 22,000 schools entered and Old Waynflete James Lomax, who left MCS this summer, has been selected as one of the final 20 students to have artwork exhibited.
His sculpture, "No Loving", was chosen by a panel of judges including artists Antony Gormley and Peter Blake, and art critic Andrew Graham-Dixon.
James describes the process of its creation; "The plaster and sand carving is a Dada-ist criticism of war and religion. I randomly selected words from tens of war memorials, using dice, and from these words constructed three different sentences, which were then carved into the face of the sculpture."
The twenty winning entries of the competition will be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London this December, and will also feature in The Sunday Telegraph.
