MCS educates pupils from the ages of 7 to 18. In September 2010, the School was delighted to welcome the first girls to the Sixth Form. Pupils are normally admitted to the Junior School at either 7 or 9, and to the Senior School at 11, 13 and 16. It may sometimes be possible to admit pupils into other years: enquiries should be made to the Registrar.

MCS is committed to admissions procedures which are fair, transparent, and designed to reward potential not merely attainment. In assessing all applicants to the school, we are keen to look for potential, not simply current attainment. We take a keen interest in the school reference, the wider interests of the pupil, and any other applicable information. The MCS papers and interviews are designed to explore the way in which each candidate thinks, helping us to assess overall promise. No special preparation is expected or required for the tests. MCS is also proud of its scholarship and bursary schemes. We are delighted to have been the first selective academic school in Oxfordshire to publish specimen entrance papers. We also aim to make our admissions process enjoyable for both the candidates and their parents; most boys and girls finish their tests or interviews smiling and happy.
This section of the website is designed to offer a detailed picture of what happens before, during and after the tests and interviews. We hope that it will answer many of the questions you may have; but please also feel free to get in touch with the Registrar to discuss any aspect of the admissions process.
